Berea College has appointed Diane Kerby acting director of its alumni relations office, effective April 1.
She previously held the position of vice president for business and administration at the ollege before retiring in 2007.
In that role she provided operational oversight for many familiar services and operations across campus including, Boone Tavern, Forestry and People Services while leading many new construction projects, including the heat plant, the Ecovillage and Fee Glade.
Additionally, she directed renovations to Lincoln Hall, Draper Classroom Building, James and Kentucky residence halls, the Bruce Trades Building and Presser Hall.
She also was instrumental in the sale of the college utility company to the city of Berea in 2004.
Kerby brings extensive leadership experience in the areas of strategic planning, budgeting, process improvement and staff mentoring. A graduate of Berea, Kerby earned a bachelor of arts in child development in 1976 and a bachelor of science in business administration in 1985.
She is serving a second term on the Berea City Council. She also is a member of the Saint Joseph Berea Foundation, the Berea Arts Council board and actively supports the Berea Arena Theater.
“I look forward to collaborating with colleagues in a tireless pursuit of deepening the relationship between alumni and the college” says Kerby. “Building on the recent success of programs like ‘Our Berea’ while imagining new ways to approach alumni engagement is very exciting to me.”
