Woman charged with attempted murder

RICHMOND — Richmond police have charged Candace F. Peters, 33, of Richmond with the attempted murder of a man she was drinking with Tuesday night, according to an RPD report.

About 8:24 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Quality Quarters on North Killarney Lane to investigate a reported stabbing. Upon arrival, the officers encountered 50-year-old Danny R. Peters, who had been stabbed at least four times and was bleeding profusely.

Peters was transported by Madison County EMS to the UK Medical Center, where he was treated for a punctured lung. He is expected to recover, the report stated.

The investigators determined that Candace and Danny along with Danny’s brother had been drinking in a room at the motel when a disturbance erupted. Officers concluded that during the disturbance Candace grabbed a knife and stabbed Danny multiple times, the report stated.

The knife was recovered at the scene, and the investigation is continuing, according to the report.

Candace Peters was lodged in the Madison County Detention Center, where she remained Wednesday afternoon, according to the jail’s online records.

Richmond man charged with identity theft, concealing deadly weapon

Police on Monday charged Curment N. Carpenter, 42, of Richmond with theft of identity of another and carrying a concealed deadly weapon after he was arrested on parole violation warrant.

According to the report, Carpenter was paroled in April after being convicted and imprisoned for several crimes, including first-degree possession of a controlled substance and carrying a concealed deadly weapon. However, a parole violation warrant was issued for his arrest in August after he absconded parole supervision and failed to complete treatment for substance abuse, the report stated.

A patrol officer observed Carpenter near the CVS store in downtown Richmond and believed he matched the description of the suspect of the Monday robbery of Check for Cash on the Eastern Bypass, the report stated.

The officer made contact with Carpenter and found he was in possession of a set of brass knuckles, the report stated. When asked for identification, Carpenter gave a false name and another person’s social security number.

Carpenter was lodged in the detention center, where he remained Wednesday afternoon, according to the jail’s online records.
