Library offers ‘Food 4 Fines’ program until Dec. 7

Register Staff Report

RICHMOND —

The Madison County Public Library is offering a way for patrons to eliminate their fines and also help those in need.

Library users can knock off $1 of their fines and fees for each nonperishable food item donated through the “Food 4 Fines” program.

Patrons are asked to bring their food donations, library card and/or picture ID to the circulation desks at either the Richmond or Berea location to exchange “Food 4 Fines.”

The food items must be unopened and have labels. Government food, bulging cans and expired or out-of-date food will not be accepted.

Donated food will be distributed to Madison County food banks in time for the holidays.
