Man charged with drug possession after traffic stop

RICHMOND — James C. Fleming, 32, of Savanna Drive, was charged Wednesday with first-degree drug possession  and served a warrant for failure to appear in court after he was stopped for a traffic violation.

According to a news release from the Richmond Police Department, officers stopped a vehicle Fleming was a passenger in for a traffic violation.

During the the stop, officers discovered a Madison County warrant for Fleming’s arrest. A search after he was taken into custody produced two small packets of heroin, the release stated.

Fleming was lodged in the Madison County Detention Center, where he remained Thursday afternoon, according to the jail’s online records.

Thefts from vehicles

Thursday morning, a complainant reported his vehicle had been broken into shortly after midnight in the 200 block of East Water Street. The complainant reported the front passenger-side window had been broken and a black iPod Nano and charging cord had been taken. Estimated value: $100.

Monday, a complainant reported his vehicle had been broken into overnight while it was parked in the 200 block of Wayne Drive. The front passenger-side window was broken and the in-dash stereo was stolen. Estimated loss: $800.
