Woman dies of injuries sustained in Dec. 10 wreck

MADISON COUNTY — A woman who was involved in a single-vehicle wreck Dec. 10 on Tates Creek Road died Friday afternoon at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

Yarelis Figuerado Romero, 27, of Lexington, was driving a 2008 Toyota Scion when it left the road on a curve near Crutcher Pike, according to the Kentucky State Police.

Romero’s car struck a tree, and she may not have been wearing a seat belt, the KSP reported. The KSP also stated speed was a likely contributing factor to the wreck.

She was taken by ambulance to the UK Medical Center where she underwent surgery and remained hospitalized.
