New Year’s celebrations slated throughout city

Ronica Shannon
Register News Writer

Richmond will be ringing in the new year with several events for people of all ages.

Galaxy Bowling and Family Entertainment Center, 1025 Amberley Way near Interstate Exit 87, is offering three different party packages for Wednesday night.

The Galactic New Year’s Eve Extravaganza begins at 9 p.m. and ends at 1 a.m. The cost is $25 per person or $135 per bowling lane for up to six people.

This package includes four hours of bowling, rental shoes, music provided by Top Cat Entertainment, dancing, snacks, an appetizer buffet, door prizes, party favors and a champagne toast.

The Champion’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve Party begins at 8 p.m. and ends at 1 a.m. and the cost is $25 per person or $45 per couple.

The package includes five hours of live music by Mick Diesel, dancing, snacks, door prizes, an unlimited appetizer buffet, party favors and a champagne toast.

The third package available includes a one-night stay and free continental breakfast at the Jameson Inn (within walking distance from the center) along with all things included with the Champion’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve Party. The cost is $119 per couple.

Call 624-4444 for more information, or visit www.galaxybowling.com.

The Paddy Wagon Irish Pub at 150 E. Main St., will be offering live music by the local band Solace beginning at 7 p.m., party favors, door prizes, a dinner buffet and champagne toast at midnight. The cost is $15 per person or $25 per couple.

For more details call 625-1054.

Madison Garden restaurant and bar, 152 N. Madison Avenue, will offer a live band, party favors and a champagne toast with no cover charge. Food and beverage specials will go on throughout the evening.

The restaurant will open at noon Thursday with a do-it-yourself Bloody Mary bar. Call 623-9720 for more information.

Being that many people consume alcohol during New Year’s Eve celebrations, the Kentucky State Police (KSP) reminds the public to secure a safe ride home.

The Christmas holiday season turned out to be deadly for 10 people throughout the state, according to information from the KSP.

Preliminary statistics indicate that 10 people died in 10 separate crashes on Kentucky’s roadways during the Christmas holiday period from 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24, through 11:59 p.m. Sunday.

Richmond cab companies can be a useful tool in securing a ride home after a New Year’s Eve celebration.

Early reservations can be made through T&T Taxi by calling 624-0492, and the Central Cab Co., which will be operating all night, can be reached at 624-8294.
