Pair sought in vehicle break-ins

Brian Smith
Register News Writer

Richmond police are attempting to identify a couple believed to be involved in two thefts from cars Saturday.

The first theft occurred at Ryan’s Steakhouse on Colby Taylor Drive, said Sgt. Willard Reardon, Richmond Police Department spokesman.

A passenger-side window of an employee’s car was broken out and a purse containing $50 in cash and several bottle of prescription medicine were stolen, Reardon said.

Later the same day, Reardon said a white female was observed in the parking lot of Outback Steakhouse breaking the passenger window out of an employee’s vehicle in the parking lot.

A purse was stolen from the front seat, and the woman was seen getting into a dark-colored extended-cab Ford Ranger pickup truck driven by a white male.

The purse contained $150 in cash and credit cards, one of which was later used to purchase $198 in merchandise at a local store, Reardon said.

Police suspect the duo may be connected to other recent thefts from cars. Anyone with information about the thefts is asked to call the Richmond Police Department at 623-1162 or 623-8911.

Assault arrest

An Edgewood Drive resident was arrested Saturday on a second-degree assault charge after she allegedly stabbed a man during a domestic dispute at her home.

Police arrested 26-year-old Krystal J. Webb, of the 2000 block of Edgewood Drive, after responding Saturday night to a report of a stabbing.

Webb and her boyfriend were found at the apartment, Reardon said, and the man had suffered stab wounds to his neck, shoulder and back.

Reardon said investigators determined the wounds were caused when Webb stabbed the man repeatedly with a pair of scissors during the dispute. She suffered a laceration on her hand, Reardon said.

Both Webb and the man were taken to Pattie A. Clay Regional Medical Center for treatment, Reardon said, and police arrested Webb after she was released from the hospital. She was lodged in the Madison County Detention Center.

Other crimes

• A break-in was reported Nov. 5 at an apartment in the 300 block of Gibson Lane. The break-in apparently occurred on the evening of Nov. 3, Reardon said. A Compaq laptop computer, two half-dollar coins and some loose change were stolen. The items were valued at $505.75.

• A purse was reported stolen Friday from a vehicle parked outside a home in the 200 block of Hallie Irvine Street. Police found no signs of forced entry. The purse contained a Visa card, $42 in cash, makeup and prescription medicine and was valued at $290.

Anyone with information about these crimes is asked to call the Richmond Police Department at 623-1162 or 623-8911.
