Women invited to Wellness Fun Day

The seventh annual Women’s Wellness Fun Day, free and open to all area women, is set for Saturday, Oct. 18, from 8:15 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Perkins Building at Eastern Kentucky University. The event includes a light breakfast and lunch for all attendees.
The Fun Day is an “opportunity for women to have fun while learning to take care of their bodies,” said Arlayne Francis, chair of the Madison County Breast Cancer Support Group. Francis’ group abd the Madison County Breast and Cervical Cancer Coalition are coordinating the event. It is conducted in October to commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
In addition to presentations on important women’s health issues by two female physicians, the program also puts a focus on the importance of exercise for good health.
State Senator Alice Forgy Kerr is slated to give an update on the progress made on women’s health issues in the state legislature.
And back by popular demand, Francis said, is the comedy team of Bea, Myrtle and Nurse Peebody in a skit called, “At the Doctor’s Office.”
The grand finale is a style show featuring models who are breast cancer survivors coordinated by Nola Newman.
The deadline for registration is Wednesday, Oct. 15, so that lunches can be ordered. To register, call the Madison County Breast Cancer Support Group at 623-4601.
