Jack’s BP sells third ‘Win For Life’ grand prize ticket

By Brian Smith

Another day, another lottery winner for Jack’s BP.

The Kentucky Lottery announced Thursday morning that the gas station on Barnes Mill Road sold its third “Win For Life” grand prize ticket.

The winning numbers, drawn Wednesday, were 10, 16, 18, 31, 32 and 40. The winner has yet to come forward to claim their prize, according to the lottery.

Jack’s BP’s first two winning tickets were sold seven weeks apart in late 2006.

“Obviously, it’s very unusual, but we’re not concerned from a security standpoint,” said Sara Westerman, a Kentucky Lottery spokesperson who visited the store Thursday to announce the win.

“This is obviously a very lucky store,” she said.

A total of seven grand prize-winning tickets have been sold since the game began in February 2006, Westerman said, but Jack’s is the only store to sell multiple winners.

Westerman advised the holder of the winning ticket to sign the back immediately and then contact lottery officials in Louisville to claim the prize.

The prize is paid out as quarterly lump-sum payments equal to at least $1,000 per week for a minimum of 10 years, according to the game’s official rules.

The store also sold a winning scratch-off ticket worth $1 million approximately eight weeks ago to Kelli Godfrey, of Marietta, Ga., the daughter of lottery board vice chairman Ray DeSloover of Richmond.

“Since we sold the million-dollar ticket, our lottery sales have gone up,” said Jackie Robinson, Jack’s BP manager and daughter of owner Jack Wyatt. “That makes the odds go up that you’ll have a big winner.”

After the million-dollar winner, Robinson attributed the winning tickets to Wyatt, a four-time cancer survivor.

“We’re the luckiest place in town,” she said. “Daddy’s beat cancer four times and it’s rubbed off on the store.”

On Thursday, Robinson said the multiple winning tickets have drawn more customers to the store to try their luck.

“A lot of people are trying to ride our coattails on our luck,” Robinson said.

Lottery officials said the store will receive a $5,200 bonus for selling the ticket.
