Felon arrested for allegedly selling drugs
By Kelly Foreman
Register News Writer
A routine home visit of a convicted felon led Madison County Probation and Parole officers to an alleged drug trafficker, Richmond Police said Thursday.
Ashley D. Lamb, 20, of Ashland Avenue, was under the supervision of Probation and Parole officers for a third-degree burglary conviction. After entering the home, the officers detained Lamb at about 3:23 p.m. when they suspected something was awry, an RPD press release states. RPD K-9 Officer Travis Bowles and K-9 Rexo were called to assist, said RPD Sgt. Willard Reardon, public affairs officer for the department.
“The Probation and Parole officers requested that the residence be subjected to a search by a drug detection canine, which revealed the presence of controlled substances,” the press release states.
About four ounces of marijuana was found in a bedroom inside the home and $2,000 in cash was found in Lamb’s possession.
“Several items of drug use and trafficking paraphernalia were also confiscated,” the release states.
Lamb was convicted of third-degree burglary charges stemming from a March 2007 copper burglary at Bluegrass Plating. Lamb was one of four co-defendants who allegedly broke into the Richmond company where one of the co-defendants was working at the time. Approximately 300 to 400 pounds of copper wiring was loaded in the bed of a 1988 Chevy S-10 pickup truck, which broke down before the men could escape with the stolen goods, former Madison County Sheriff's Sgt. Danny McGuire said previously.
Wednesday, Lamb was arrested by Probation and Parole officers, who charged him with violating his probation. Additionally, Richmond Police charged Lamb with trafficking in marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was lodged in the Madison County Detention Center on a $1,000 cash bond and a Probation and Parole holder.
