Man arrested for assault with lamp

A Richmond man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly beating a man with a lamp.

Police officers were called Tuesday to the 1100 block of Race Street to investigate a report of an assault, according to a press release from Sgt. Willard Reardon of the Richmond Police Department.

When officers arrived, they found a male victim — bleeding from a head wound — who said he had been attacked with a lamp by 26-year-old Jeremy Campbell.

The victim was sent to Pattie A. Clay Regional Medical Center, where he was treated for a laceration to his scalp and a possible concussion, the press release said. He later was released.

Campbell, of E. Main Street, surrendered the next day to police and was charged with second-degree assault.

He was lodged in the Madison County Detention Center where he is being held in lieu of a $2,500 cash bond.

Theft arrest

Jennifer Spears, 31, of Ole Daniel Boone Road, was arrested Thursday in connection with the unlawful use of a credit card.

On Tuesday, a complainant told police that his Visa card had been unlawfully used at Walmart to purchase approximately $204 in goods.

“Investigation revealed that Spears had unlawfully obtained the victim’s Visa card and utilized it to make the charges at Walmart,” the RPD press release said.

Spears was charged with fraudulent use of a credit card and was lodged in the Madison County Detention Center, where she was later released.

Other crimes

• On Thursday, a patron of Kroger in the Richmond Plaza reported to RPD that his truck had been stolen from the parking lot while he was inside the store.

The victim told police he left the truck unlocked with the keys in the ignition. When he returned, the truck was gone.

The stolen vehicle, with an estimated worth of $2,000, was described as a 1999 Ford Ranger pickup truck, KY License plate #333 EEE.

• On Tuesday, an employee of Waffle House on the Eastern Bypass reported that her cellular telephone, a red Blackberry Pearl, was stolen while she was at work. The estimated loss was $350.

• An employee of the Richmond Public Works Department reported the theft of several street signs. Signs located at the corner of High Street and Oak Street were taken along with a stop sign and post. The estimated loss was $70.

• Brittany N. Boyd, 24, of Mt. Sterling, was arrested Thursday after she was detained by Kohl’s employees from allegedly taking $40 in merchandise from the store. She was charged with theft by unlawful taking under $300.

• On Friday, a Booneville man was arrested for shoplifting at Kroger. Corbin G. Puryear, 19, was detained by Kroger employees for allegedly taking $79 in merchandise from the store. He was charged with theft by unlawful taking under $300.

Anyone with information related to these crimes is encouraged to contact the Richmond Police Department at 623-8911 or 623-1162.
