Berea police arrested a man for first-degree wanton endangerment after witnesses saw him threaten to shoot a man in the head in the Walmart parking lot Thursday.
Larry J. Abner, 60, of the 800 block of Old Red Lick Road, Berea, was arrested after witnesses said he held a handgun to a man’s head three times and threatened to shoot him, said Capt.. Ken Clark, Berea Police Department spokesman.
The altercation apparently stemmed from an earlier argument between Abner and the man regarding money owed Abner, Clark said.
Abner also was charged with alcohol intoxication after police determined he was under the influence, Clark said.
Mower stolen
A lawn mower valued at more than $1,100 was stolen Monday from outside a local business.
The MTD brand riding mower was stolen from outside Jennings Home Center, 1411 Paint Lick Road, around noon, Clark said.
The mower had been locked up with a cable, Clark said, but the thief cut the cable and took the mower.
No surveillance video of the theft was available, Clark said. “We have absolutely nothing to go on.”
The mower was valued at $1,179.
Apartment theft
A pair of Morning View Drive apartment residents were arrested Saturday for felony receiving stolen property after their neighbor recognized an item that had been stolen from her apartment on their back porch.
Randy Gabbard, 25, and Alicia Wilson, 22, were arrested following a search of their apartment in the 100 block. A neighbor had called police after discovering her apartment had been broken into and several items stolen, Clark said.
The victim recognized a wall hanging that had been stolen on the back porch of Gabbard and Wilson’s apartment, and a search of their apartment uncovered approximately $960 in items that had been taken, including a computer, Clark said.
