Man allegedly holds his girlfriend hostage

Brian Smith
Register News Writer

Police responded to a possible domestic violence situation Sunday morning in the 500 block of Mount Rushmore Drive that ended with a Richmond man being arrested.

Robert Dunn, 24, is charged with second-degree unlawful imprisonment and disorderly conduct after allegedly holding his girlfriend hostage inside their apartment and brandishing a handgun at neighbors who attempted to help the woman.

Officers were able to subdue Dunn after gaining entry to the apartment.

Police recovered a .40-caliber Glock pistol after Dunn’s arrest.

Dunn is lodged in the Madison County Detention Center on a $1,000 cash bond.

Gun allegedly fired

A Richmond man was arrested Saturday and charged with first-degree wanton endangerment after Richmond police allege he fired a gun into his front yard following an argument with several juveniles.

Daniel G. Baker, 41, of the 500 block of Hampton Way, was arrested at 11:40 p.m. Saturday after police were dispatched to his home following a report of a disturbance with shots fired.

Police say Baker argued with several juveniles living in a nearby apartment about various acts of criminal mischief that had occurred in the area.

After some name calling, police say, Baker went into his home, grabbed a firearm and shot two times into the home’s front yard.

Baker was lodged in the Madison County Detention Center. He is free on a $5,000 cash bond.

A Clark-Moores Middle School teacher reported Wednesday that her $8,000 diamond engagement ring was stolen Dec. 18 from her desk.

The teacher had taken the platinum 1.1-carat round diamond solitaire ring off momentarily and left it on her desk, police said, and when she went to retrieve it, it was missing.
