Man indicted for incest, sex abuse

By Brian Smith
Register News Writer

A Richmond man was indicted Tuesday by a Madison County grand jury on four counts of incest, six counts of first-degree sexual abuse and one count of first-degree sodomy.

Ronnie King, 62, of 166 Milton Lane, was indicted on four counts of incest for allegedly having sex with his half-sister four times between Jan. 1, 1983, and Dec. 31, 1986.

The sodomy and sexual abuse charges stem from King allegedly subjecting a woman to sexual contact by forcible compulsion multiple times between Jan. 1, 2007, and Sept. 10, 2008, the indictment alleges.

The Register has a policy of not naming victims of sexual abuse.

If convicted, King faces 10 to 20 years in prison for each of the incest charges and the sodomy charge, and one to five years for each of the sexual abuse charges.

Theft, drug indictment

Michael Vaughn Pensol, 22, of 128 Meadowlark Drive, Richmond, was indicted on felony theft by unlawful taking charges, possession of drug paraphernalia, persistent felony offender and misdemeanor theft and bail jumping charges.

Pensol allegedly stole more than $300 in tools and a gun Nov. 6 from a vehicle owned by Larry Chapman.

The misdemeanor theft charge stems from an Oct. 9 drive-off from D&G Marathon, and the drug paraphernalia charge stems from a glass plate found in Pensol’s possession that had drug residue on it, the indictment alleges.

The paraphernalia charge is a felony because of a prior conviction for possession of drug paraphernalia, the indictment states.

The persistent felony offender charges apply to the felony theft and possession charges because Pensol has a prior conviction for unlawful transaction with a minor, according to the indictment. Each of the felony charges are Class C felonies, meaning they carry increased penalties if Pensol is convicted.

Pensol faces five to 10 years in prison on each of the felony charges if convicted, and not more than 12 months in jail for each of the misdemeanor charges.

Other indictments

• Joshua Lynn Courtney, 24, of the 100 block of E. Locust St., Richmond, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Courtney faces five to 10 years in prison if convicted.

• Paul V. Linderman, 21, of the 600 block of Jigg Water Road, Richmond, receiving stolen property, more than $300. Linderman faces one to five years in prison if convicted.

• Chandra Devan Justice, 28, of the 3400 block of Red Coach Trail, Lexington, first-degree possession of a controlled substance. Justice faces one to five years in prison if convicted.

An indictment is a formal accusation and does not establish guilt.
