MADISON COUNTY — If you have plans to buy or sell hay this winter, mark Saturday, Jan. 19, at 10 a.m. on your calender for our annual hay auction at the Madison County Fairgrounds. All types of hay and straw will be available. Bale sizes will consist of large and small rolls and large and small square bales. Lot sizes will vary so that you will be able to buy a little or a lot. Loading and unloading of hay will be available on site.

Hay will be tested for nutrient levels by the Kentucky Department of Agriculture on Friday, Jan. 18. We will also take an average bale weight for each lot of hay or straw. The weight and nutrient content of each lot will be posted.

Hay may be delivered Wednesday, Jan. 16, through Friday, Jan. 18. The auction will be conducted in the indoor arena and will take place rain, snow or shine.

This is the only hay sale in central Kentucky where you can purchase hay that has been tested for nutrient content and that gives you an average bale weight prior to the sale. Know what you are buying!

If you have square hay bales you would like to sell, especially alfalfa/grass mixed hay, give me a call at 623-4072. We are working to secure hay orders and top quality hay is always in high demand. In past years we have run short on mixed alfalfa type hay.

If you have any questions, please call Brandon Sears at 623-4072.
