Library anniversary events begin Friday

RICHMOND — The Madison County Public Library’s 25th anniversary celebration will start Friday at both the Richmond and Berea branches, where ice cream socials are scheduled from 3 to 5 p.m.

On Saturday, the Berea branch at 319 Chestnut St. will have several children’s activities, pony rides and mini-cupcakes from 10 a.m. to noon.

The Richmond library at 507 W. Main St. also will have kids activities, snacks and pony rides  from 2 to 4 p.m.

On Sunday, the Richmond branch will host the 25th Anniversary Gala Open House from 2 to 4 p.m.

Two musical groups that regularly practice at the library will be performing, the Appalachian Aires Flute Ensemble and the Tuesday Dulcimers.

At 2:30 p.m., there will be a recognition program and a dedication for new library spaces.
