Father/son duo honored for agricultural efforts

RICHMOND — Agriculture roots run deep for this father/son duo. Both have been recognized this year for their efforts in the community to further the future of agriculture in Richmond and Madison County.

Darrell Tate was presented with the Agriculture Award at the Annual Chamber Awards Ceremony.   

Darrell is a husband and a father to two sons, Richard and Jeremiah (Bo), who both are full-time firefighters and farmers.

Darrell also is an auctioneer with Bogie Auction Company, employed by the Bluegrass Stockyards in Richmond and is a businessman. He farms over 1,600 acres and his farming operation consists of approximately 400 head of cattle. Darrell is active with the Beef Cattle Association and Farm Bureau.  

Jeremiah (Bo) Tate received the Outstanding Young Farm Family award at the Farm Bureau annual meeting. Bo farms full-time with his wife, Katie. They have two sons, Cash and Case Tate. In addition to that, Bo is a full-time fireman with the Madison County Fire Department. Bo farms over 200 acres and his operation consists of over 100 head of cattle.
