UNION CITY — Last Saturday was a busy day in the area.

Speedwell Christian Church had the annual pig roast and sing. Food was abundant followed by singing by Redeemed, Tim Jones, Dennis Pasley and Carol Edwards.

Union City’s fish fry was Saturday and it was good to see many people lingering after the meal to visit.

Gary and Shelia Murphy were blessed with another grandson last week. Chad and Jennifer Murphy Miller announce the arrival of Peyton Cade Miller, weighing 8 pounds and 8 ounces, on Thursday night, Oct.  4, at 7:44 p.m.

Our sympathy goes out to the family and friends of Colby Louis Tate who died last Thursday. The funeral was on Tuesday.

Union City Homemakers will meet tonight, Thursday, Oct. 11, at 7 p.m. All ladies of the community are welcome to attend.

Oct. 14-17, Flatwoods Christian Church will have revival services with a different speaker each service.

Speakers include Wayne Smith, Sunday morning; Kenny Speakes, Sunday night; John McCord, Monday; Johny Collins, Tuesday; and Terry Jones on Wednesday. Evening services will begin at 6:45 p.m. Singing will be provided by Kenny Speakes, Diggles Family, Brotherhood and For His Praise.
