RICHMOND — Dollar General Store on Richmond’s north end will have its grand opening this Saturday. I am told there will be many give-away items, sale items and lots of great prices on everything.

The store at this location has a cooler of refrigerated staples the entire length of the building, plus an excellent selection of many items.

Come out, join in the fun and take home some of the freebies.

There will be a blood donation drive at the Madison County Public Library, 507 West Main Street, today, Thursday, Oct. 11, from noon to 6:30 p.m.

With the holidays just around the corner, many people will be traveling, and there is the likelihood of an increase in accidents.

Therefore, the need for an increase in the amount of blood on demand in our local hospitals should intensify.

Come to the library and donate blood. You never know, the life you save may be your very own.

As an alternative to the annual church bazaar, Mount Pleasant Christian Church is planning a giant “Yard Sale/Bake Sale” for Saturday, Nov. 3.

Anyone wanting to donate items for the sale may contact the church office.

More information on the particulars of this big sale will follow at a later date in my column.

Madison Hills Christian Church will conduct a board meeting Sunday, Oct. 14, at 6 p.m., in the church office.

Also, the youth, under the direction of Jeremy Wasch, plan to be very busy this month.

On Sunday, Oct. 14, the teenagers will play Laser Tag at Richmond Underground.

The really biggie will be the trip to King’s Island on Saturday, Oct. 20.

Call the church office for time and details.

Madison Hills Christian Church offers two morning worship services – at 9:30 and 10:45 a.m. If you need a church home, you are welcome there.

Tates Creek Baptist Church, under the direction of Dr. Jerry Huffman, now offers a radio ministry.

This radio program may be heard each Sunday at 4:30 p.m. on WCBR 1110 AM in Richmond.

Also, the “Excellence in Living Ministries” broadcasts the program six days a week on WMIK 92 FM in Middlesboro.

Recently, they began broadcasting their “Thru-the-Bible Series” each day of the week. The Saturday night program is a different series altogether. Sermons may be heard on their web page each evening at 7:30 p.m.

Happy birthday wishes go out to Sue Barnes, Pat West, Pat Brandenburg, Brittany Powell and Jeremy Barclay – all from Mount Pleasant Christian Church.

May God bless each of you to have a terrific birthday. Enjoy it with your family and friends.

Happy anniversary to Mr. and Mrs. Clayburn Tallsmanon on Oct. 15. The happy couple plan on spending their special day visiting out of town.

The old adage for the week is: “Man is the only animal that can be skinned more than once.”
