Rain, hot weather will make lawns, gardens grow

BALDWIN — Hello from Baldwin:

How is everyone's week going? I hope everyone is having a great one.

We finally got some hot and dry weather, then some storms and more rain. That will make the your yards and gardens grow.

My sister Myra Isbell and her husband, Garnett, have been working hard to get more planted in the garden while we had some dry weather. Then the storms came Thursday and did a lot of damage to the plants in the garden. I do not like these storms at all.

I want to apologize to all my readers who went to the Madison County Farmers Market last expecting to buy strawberries but none were available. I was expecting strawberries, too, and I apologize for the inconvenience it may have caused.

Please remember to pray for all the people in Moore, Colorado, and surrounding areas for the loss of their homes and lives of loved ones. May God be with them as they try to rebuild.

Happy birthday wishes go out next week to Gary Portwood and Sydney Keeton, Sunday; Cova Kelly, Jackson Tucker Sandusky and John Jackson, Monday; and my cousin, Janice Long, Wednesday. I hope everyone has a happy birthday and many more happy ones to come.

Happy anniversary wishes go out next week to Bryan and Denise Bogie, Sunday; Gary and Linda Portwood, Tuesday; Billy and Amber Green, Thursday; and Mike and Peggy Azbill, Friday. I hope that all of these couples have very happy anniversaries and many more happy years together.

There have been several deaths in the last couple of weeks that have been connected to Baldwin and to me.

I would like to send out my deepest sympathy to the family of Leland Bennett Jr., better known as Bud. He lived in our community all of my life until he had to go into the nursing home earlier this year.

Bud was a wonderful man and a great neighbor. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends; he will be missed by all.

Also, my deepest sympathy goes out to the families of Jane Boyd and Mable Combs. These were both very special ladies. My thoughts and prayers go out to all their families and friends.

Well, I guess that is all for now, let me know if you hear any news, just give me a call at 623-4579 or email me at pljones61@netzero.com.
