Great weather awaiting us

By Peggy Brandenburg

WACO — Hi!

Refreshing weather should be awaiting us in the next few days -- a little cooler and less humid!!  All we need is a couple of dry days, right?

Robert Gross and his family (Dad Patrick, Mom Patty and Granny Lil) are back home after a lovely few days at Myrtle Beach. Although they had a great time, it was still good to get back home to work, loads of laundry, mowing, weed-eating etc., etc. (yeah, right!)

College Hill United Methodist Church is having their Vacation Bible School this week. There's still a couple of days left in case you want to get in on all the "goings on."

From the desk of Tim Jones, Pastor of Flatwoods Christian Church, we have these notes: "We had a great Homecoming day, attendance was 109. Several visitors and former members were there. The music was outstanding.

The message was very on target for homecoming day. The meal and fellowship made for a very very good day!

Pioneer Playhouse Trip

We had a good response of those signing up for Pioneer Playhouse trip already.

So far we have 16. That qualifies us for the group discount.

The group tickets work this way. Church will pay for tickets. We can take cash or check. If you want to write a check for tickets. Make it to Flatwoods Christian Church.

The play is "Moon Over Buffalo." Let me know if you want to go.

The date is Friday Aug. 2, Dinner begins at 7:30 pm. Play begins at 8:30.

Some are choosing to not go for dinner. Let me know which you prefer.

The prices are: Children (12 and under), Theater only: $9, Dinner and show: $15; Groups (of 10 or more),Theater only: $14

Dinner and show: $26.

If it ever drys up (and it is as we speak,) lawnmowers will be busy in our cemeteries.  If you have a loved one buried in Flatwoods Cemetery, we kindly ask that you check those gravesites and remove any obstacles (wreaths, old flowers, etc.) that may hinder our caretaker's mowing around the markers.

Happy birthday wishes go out to: Earl Yarber (July 19;) to Walter Marshall (July 19, I believe;) Sophia Brown (July 28;) Skip Margle (July 29;) and to Sarah Mischke (July 31.)

Happy Anniversary wishes go out to A.J. and Diana McDonald on July 28.

Deepest sympathies to all those who lost loved ones this week and especially to Dana Sparks in the passing of her husband Stanley. You and your family are in our hearts and prayers at this time.

That's about it for this week — have a great one, August will be here before you know it!!
