The sun is going to shine for us

PAINT LICK — It's another cloudy Tuesday here in Paint Lick, but folks, the sun is going to shine for us all this week, so we can get into our gardens and plow up our fields and just be happy that maybe the rain will stay away, at least for a little while. We have a wonderful breeze out that will soon dry the ground.

Everyone tells me they had a great Mother's Day. I know I did with all the rose bushes that I intend to plant, I should stay quite busy and the beautiful cards..... I want to cry whenever I read them.  I spent the whole day at my sister Emma's home where she put up with around fifty of her offspring and siblings. It was such a good day, everyone brought food and caring hugs, lots of well wishes and even helped with all the mess afterward.

Last Wednesday was an extraordinary relaxing day for me and Deborah Messenger as we traveled to Casey County just on the outside of Liberty, we stopped at The Bread of Life Cafe. It was packed even before noon with excellent foods and the servers were so nice. Deborah and I then drove to the Amish General Store and their nursery was well stocked. As you might guess, I spent more than intended and bought a good looking grapevine starter home to Doug. He is starting his own orchard in our front yard and I finally found some Missouri Wonder green beans seed to put in the garden. But then, I'll quote my nephew, Mark "don't mow your lawn, eat it." It's a greenery thing! What a glorious day! The Community Farmer's Market is still open on Fridays from 4-6 p.m. and everyone is welcome to join Deborah Messenger and Glenda McQuerry and Willow in your own vegetable display, no charge.

Call her at 925-9936, if you would like more information.

Congratulations to Paint Lick's Elizabeth Moore on becoming "Certified FeedMaster Specialist" for the Southern States Cooperation where she is an employee. We are proud to know she can answer any questions you may have on what and how to feed and treat your stock.

The Paint Lick Family Clinic will be closed the last week of May from 27-31 for Memorial Day and some time away.

Have a wonderful week ahead and May God Bless
