UNION CITY — Union City Ruritan met Monday night. There was discussion on having new floor covering done in the building.

The recent pancake breakfast was a success.

Remember, the Ruritan building is open each weekday from 8:30 to 10 a.m. All are welcome to come in, have a cup of coffee and discuss the news of the day.

Some of you may remember Roy Goldstein who grew up about a mile from Union City.

Staff Sgt. Goldstein re-enlisted in the United States Air Force on Friday, Feb. 15, at 436th Aerial Port Squadron, Dover Air Force Base, Dover, Del. Maj. James Hendrix performed the re-enlistment ceremony.

In Maj. Hendrix’s speech he described Goldstein as “a pillar of the community.”

Goldstein is active as a volunteer firefighter with the Camden Wyoming Fire Company in Camden, Del. and also serves as the Jewish Lay Leader for Dover AFB.

Goldstein will deploy to the Middle East early this summer for the eighth time in his 13-year career. Roy is the son of Marc and Gail Goldstein of Doylesville Road.

Happy birthday this week to Steve Wall on Friday and Gilda Harris Glorioso, next Thursday.
