4-H Camping Season Nears

RICHMOND — Hopefully, we have seen the last of the snow for the year, so now is the time for young people and their parents to begin making plans for an annual summer ritual, 4-H Camp.

Many exciting activities and adventures await campers. 4-H’ers can spend their days participating in activities such as swimming, canoeing, high and low ropes, archery, arts and crafts, dances and nature hikes. These activities are a fun way to help young people learn new skills and develop a greater appreciation for the outdoors.  It’s a perfect place to unplug and play!

Madison County 4-H camp is open to youth between the ages of 9 and 14. At 4-H Camp, young people learn independence and responsibility, have a lot of fun and make new friends.

4-H Camp is scheduled for Monday, June 30 through Thursday, July 3, 2014.  Camper registration packets are available by calling the Madison County Extension Office at 859-623-4072.  The registration deadline is June 6, but the spaces are filling quickly so do not delay on getting your registration packet turned in.

We are also recruiting teens and adults to serve as volunteers during 4-H Camp.  All volunteers, both teens and adults must complete the application and volunteer screening process.  To get an application and schedule your interview, contact the Extension Office at 859-623-4072.  This is a terrific way to give back to the community, and have the opportunity to make a difference to the kids in your cabin.

Educational programs of the Cooperative Extension Service serve all people regardless of race, color, sex, religion, disability or national origin.
