Union City fish fry scheduled for Saturday

UNION CITY — The next Union City fish fry will be this Saturday, April 20, beginning at 5 p.m. This is a great social gathering for the community. Fish is always good. Everyone is welcome.

Union City Day is scheduled for Saturday, May 18. Two raffles are underway. One is for a quilt handmade by Mary Sewell. Then, there is a raffle for several prizes including a 32-inch TV, Garmin GPS unit and Paula Deen Cookware. See a Ruritan member to purchase a ticket. All proceeds from both raffles will go to the floor replacement fund.

Liberty Chapel will have its Third Sunday Singing this Sunday at 6 p.m. Beverly, Ronnie and Brian Sparks, known as Trinity Heirs, will be the featured singers. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Union City Christian Church will host Ken Henderson this Sunday at 4 p.m. The program topic is “What happened to the dinosaurs?”

The Christian Church will have a special concert on Sunday, April 28, at 6 p.m. A group of Union City church members known as UCC4 will be singing. They are Diane Thacker, Danny Broomfield, Mike and Jessica Lynn with Sally Childers at the piano.

Union City Baptist Church will observe homecoming on Sunday, April 28. There will be a homecoming dinner at noon. Friends and former members are invited to attend.

Bybee Methodist Church has invited anyone in the area to join them for a trip to the Cincinnati Reds game on Saturday, May 11. The group will be leaving Richmond at 1 p.m. If you are interested, contact Glenn Richardson at 582-8989 or Robert Stroup at 940-6351.

Happy birthday this week to Bruce Pratt, Saturday; Hanna Grace Murphy, William Haden Harris and John Parks, Sunday; Francis Allen and John Thomas, Monday; Emma Woosley, Tuesday; and Russell Webb, Butch Kirby and Lloyd Rhodus, next Thursday.
