BALDWIN — Merry Christmas from Baldwin. How is everyone’s week going?

I hope everyone is having a great one.

If you are like me, you have had a heavy heart since last Friday after the shooting in Newtown, Conn.

Words are not adequate for what is in my heart about this horrible thing that has happened in our country.

Land of the free and home of the brave, I don’t think so.

But, I want to say the families of the children and adults who lost their lives on Friday are certainly in my thoughts and prayers. God be with them and help them all find some kind of peace during this time in their lives and in the days to come.

Christmas is just around the corner – let’s see, it’s five days until Christmas Day.

Now tell me the truth, how many of you are ready for Christmas?

Well, I will be honest with you, not me. But I do have five more days to get ready.

There is shopping, wrapping, making candy and cakes and so on.

But let us not forget the reason for the season. Yes, Jesus was born on Christmas Day in a manger in Bethlehem to Mary and Joseph.

He came to save us from our sins, so we may be saved and spend eternal life with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in heaven.

This year, don’t forget to honor Jesus on Christmas and celebrate His birthday.

Merry Christmas to all my readers and non-readers, May God bless us all this Christmas season.

Happy birthday wishes go out next week to Hairl Applegate, Sunday; Allen Goins, Monday; and Jackie Shanks, Mike Shanks and Kelli Satterfield, Tuesday.

A very special young lady, my great niece, Alysann Smith, will be celebrating her 17th birthday on Wednesday. I love you so much Alysann.

Happy birthday to Chelsea Bolton, Thursday; and to Carol Short, Johnathan Portwood and Michelle Harrison.

I hope you all have very happy birthdays and many more happy ones to come.

Well, I guess that’s all for now. Let me know if you hear any news. Just give me a call at 623-4579 or e-mail at pljones61@netzero.com.
