‘Grill Out Cancer’

UNION CITY — Come to Union Cizty this Saturday for “Grill Out Cancer.” This will be a dinner and auction. Donation on entry will give you choice of chicken or ribeye steak. Event will begin at 6:30 pm. and food will be served until 7:30 pm. The pie auction will begin at 7:30 pm. For more information contact Marty Sewell at 859-582-4639 or Robert Murphy at 623-9461.

Robert and Linda Murphy attended the Clark Energy annual meeting in Winchester on Tuesday night. The energy COOP gave out 16 scholarships and one of the scholarship winners has Union City connections. She is Ashley Roy, daughter of Kevin and Michelle Roy. Congratulations, Ashley!

Liberty Chapel revival services continue tonight and  Friday at 7 pm. Evangelists for the meeting will be Kenneth Wasson and George Sparks. Liberty Chapel is located at 464 Three Forks Road. All are welcome.

Waco Baptist Church at Waco invites everyone to come and hear Chuck McAlister, host of Adventure Bound Outdoors TV show,  on Wednesday, May 15 at 7 p.m. For more information contact Jennifer Hensley at 859-369-5766.

Union City Day is scheduled for Saturday, May 18. There will be music and food, yard sales including some “Made in Union City” items. For yard sales, you can start setting up at 7 am on that day. It will be a great day to get out and meet your neighbors. Two raffles are underway. One is for a quilt handmade by Mary Sewell. Raffle tickets are available  for several prizes including, 32-inch TV, Garmin GPS unit and Paula Deen Cookware. See a Ruritan member to purchase tickets. All proceeds from both raffles will go to the floor replacement fund.
