UNION CITY — The next event at Union City Ruritan will be a Halloween party, Saturday, Oct. 27, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Volunteers are needed to help with games and food. Donations of cakes, cupcakes, cookies, candy and pies will be accepted.

If you do not bake, you may also donate money.

Contact Mary Louise Sewell at 623-9369 if you can help or donate.

Liberty Chapel at 464 Three Forks Road will have Third Sunday Singing this Sunday, beginning at 6 p.m. Featured singers for the event will be Glorybound Inspirations.

There will be no evening service at Union City Christian Church this Sunday.

Several from the church will participate in a special worship service at the Cane Ridge Meeting House near Paris.

This is an annual service by Christian Churches of Madison, Estill, Clark and Jackson counties. Gathering will begin at 4 p.m., followed by a worship service when Matt Vaught, minister of Sand Hill Christian Church, will speak.

The Cane Ridge site is famous for the great revival of 1801 when thousands came together at the invitation of Barton W. Stone.

From that time, Barton Stone and several others led a unity movement to restore Christianity to simple biblical standards.

Coming next month is the yard, craft and bake sale at Mt. Pleasant Christian Church.  The date is Nov. 3 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The church is located on Lexington Road north of Richmond.

Belated birthday wishes to Lisa Gabbard and Bobby Masters, Sunday; Ashley Blevins Monday; and Von Parke and Adam Risk, Wednesday.
