Waco Elementary retirees group to meet

WACO — Hi!

Changes are coming, or rather, are already here -- temperatures have dropped considerably over the last couple of days. It seems we’ve gone from summer to “almost” early winter conditions in just a few days!

Changes have already been had at Waco Elementary this week. Welcome to Waco, Vanessa Worley! Ms. Worley has accepted the position of principal at Waco Elementary and took over the helm this week. A great big “thank you” to Interim Principal Bobby Harris who “oversaw” the students and staff until a new principal was named.

Speaking of Waco Elementary, the Waco Elementary Retirees “Fan Club” will meet this Friday (tomorrow, the 18th) at Heritage House for a little get-together (including food!). Most will be arriving around 11:30 a.m.

From the desk of Tim Jones, pastor of Flatwoods Christian Church, we have these notes: Sunday  was a very good day. Thanks to all who participated. Revive Us Again!

Sunday morning there were 80 in attendance. Cameron Mills did a great job of impressing on us the need to stay close to Jesus.

Forty-four, plus two in youth meeting, were on hand Sunday night to hear Dennis Pasley sing and preach.

Jonetta Dunaway Sang at 6:45 with Mike Chism preaching. Both are from the South Irvine Christian Church and did a tremendous job. (Thank you so much.)

If you talked to Connie Dennis last over the weekend, you may know this, but some of you may not have heard, Jeremy Mason, son of Gary and Sharon Mason of Waco, came in third in the nation for his category at the International Hot Rod Association race Sunday afternoon in Memphis.  Congratulations. (Wow!)

If you heard sirens last Thursday, the fire trucks were headed to the Smith residence on Flint Road. Although there were no personal injuries, it appears, the home sustained considerable damage.

Did you hear about the break-in at Waco Animal Clinic? We saw it on the TV news; no new information, except the break-in did occur last Thursday night.

Happy birthday wishes go out to Trevor McKee (a bowling party, no less!!). Happy birthday wishes also go out to Johnny Turpin (Oct. 12) and to Jarrett Braxton Brandenburg (Oct. 13)

Deepest sympathies to the Shirley Ramsey family. May it help you to know that you are in our thoughts and prayers at this time.

That’s about it for this week; have a great one!
