Still working on the basement

Kirksville News

KIRKSVILLE — Hello everyone. I guess as you drove by my house, you could say that I was at it again.

Actually, we are still working on the same project – my basement. Brother did the outside work on the footer, but I had to have inside work done as well.

Junior Skinner re-worked my outside bricks that had gained large cracks from the footer drop, as well as pouring concrete down several of the concrete blocks on the inside.

It was a job. I had to have 40 bags of cement and a pile of sand hauled in to do the job. They never stopped until the job was completed.

I think God blessed me again with such conscientious men who wanted to do the job right.

The basement is not done yet. I still have the big crack in the floor to get repaired.

You will probably see, yet to come, more men working.

Repairs are far worse than building. A lot more mess, a lot more stuff to move around, a lot more work for me.

Saturday, Nov. 10, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., is the Christmas Gathering at Kirksville Community Center.

This is the third annual craft and vendor fair. There will be 50-plus craft and direct sales vendors. There will be photos with Santa from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. It will be a great time to shop for Christmas.

They also will be accepting non-perishable food for the Salvation Army. You can bring cans of food to help others while having a great shopping day.

As a fundraiser, Kirksville Community Center also will be selling tickets for portraits, that will be taken on Dec. 1.

Don’t forget on Nov. 17, the Clothing Closet will be open. It is already getting colder, so look for your extra coats to be donated.

The Kirksville Baptist Senior Adults will be having breakfast at the Roundhill Store on Saturday at 9 a.m.

It seems Susie has been busy hosting many events. The politicians have been swarming around. I did not know that Kirksville was so important. I guess we are, all votes count. I hope everyone did get out to vote.
