First Christian youth provide Christmas gifts for 12 families

Special to the Register

RICHMOND — This holiday season the youth of First Christian Church, Richmond, helped make a better Christmas possible for 12 Madison County families.

Church youth and other volunteers spent over 30 hours and raised over $4,500, which they used to purchase over 50 pairs of pants and shirts, socks and underwear for the children. They also purchased nine coats, 21 pairs of shoes, 12 dolls, a karaoke machine, a bike for a 4-year-old girl, books for the children, toy trucks, footballs, basketballs, action figures, other toys and numerous household items for the parents/guardians.

Each family was also provided with laundry baskets full of personal hygiene items, bath liens, cleaning supplies and paper goods.
