Les Jongleurs present ‘Concert of Lessons and Carols’ Dec. 9 at Episcopal Church

Special to the Register

RICHMOND — The Second Sunday concert on Sunday, Dec. 9, at 2 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of Our Saviour features an Advent Concert of Lessons and Carols performed by Les Jongleurs, an area singers directed by John Stegner.

“Lessons and Carols is a traditional service usually featuring carols and hymns of the Christmas season interspersed by short scripture readings foretelling the birth of Christ,” according to a news release from the group. “The audience can expect stirring music of the season with several outstanding solos from Les Jongleurs, which is sponsored year-round by Edward Jones Investments.”

The concert is free, but a $5 dollar suggested donation will go to benefit the performers and the local Salvation Army soup kitchen. In appreciation for the Salvation Army and the work they do in the community, the Madison Brass ensemble is performing a pre-concert of selections from the Salvation Army Christmas music collection from 1:15 – 1:45 p.m. Come early to enjoy the pre-concert.

Stegner, director of Les Jongleurs, is director of music at First Christian Church in Richmond.

The Episcopal Church of Our Saviour, Madison County, is located at 2323 Lexington Road, Richmond, not far from White Hall Elementary School.

The Les Jongleurs concert is sponsored by parishioners of the church, which invites the entire community to enjoy this holiday offering. For directions or for more information, email arts@oursaviourky.org.
