Rosedale Baptist celebrates 70 years Oct. 6

RICHMOND — Rosedale Baptist Church will celebrates its 70th anniversary Oct. 6 with a special commemorating service beginning at 10:30 a.m.

There is a reason why we have been located here for seven decades, and that is simply because we believe in sharing Christ around the corner and around the world.

For 70 years, we have strived to help families and individuals to build and strengthening their lives through our lord and savior, Jesus Christ.

We also help with many important missions, not only around the world and the state, but also here at home by supporting the Grace Now and Health Now ministries.

We believe that those organizations are very vital parts of our community. As a church, we have something for everyone. We have a just recently built a playground facility because of the wonderful growth in our children’s ministry. We also have an awesome youth group and programs for our young and senior adults.

We invite guests, former members and anyone who has ever been to our church or is looking for a church home to come and be a part of this very special service.

We will be having special performances during the morning worship service by our choir, children and youth.

We also will be looking back at the year 1943 and examining our church’s history.

Following the service, we will hold a fellowship dinner and then will have a special “looking forward” dedication for our children and their new playground facility.

Come see for yourself what Rosedale is all about.

Sunday school begins at 9:30 a.m. and transportation can be provided by calling the church office at (859) 623-1771.

This insect is called the cicada killer, and despite its aggressive name, it is not something to be scared of.

I often flash back to the days from the mid to late 1930s when I was a paper boy.
There were 10 or 12 of us who rolled out of bed at 5 a.m. every day, jumped on our bicycles and headed downtown to the Glyndon Hotel and picked up our papers for delivery.
