McKinneys celebrate 50th anniversary

UNION CITY — Patty Turpin called to say there was a celebration last Sunday at the Ruritan building. Ray and Marie McKinney of Doylesville Road celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

The celebration also served as a birthday celebration for Ray McKinney who turned 71. They appreciate the gathering of family and friends.

Union City Baptist Church will have vacation Bible school June 23-28, 6 p.m. Brenda Parke is the director.

To kick off the VBS week, the church will have a special carnival day Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. A coaster will be on the grounds for rides. Snacks will include hotdogs, snow cones, popcorn, cotton-candy and drinks. The community is invited.

Union City Ruritan met Monday night. Two new members were inducted. We welcome James Hardin and David Gannon. Mr. Hardin is the minister of Union City Baptist Church and Mr. Gannon works for Edward Jones investment company.

Remember, the bookmobile will be at Union City next Wednesday, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.  

Looking into next month, Mark Bishop will here for a gospel music concert at Union City Christian Church, Sunday, July 7, 6 p.m.  Admission is free, but a love offering will be taken.

Doylesville Cemetery continues to collect funds to help with mowing and general needs. If you want to help, contact Ruth White at 623-3881.
