YMCA Piranhas awesome at Miami Meet

RICHMOND — The swimmers did awesome at the Miami Meet this January.

Tina and I had several coaches and officials ask who TYP was and where we were from.

I had challenged the swimmers prior to the meet that we could break 20 team records. Well, they surpassed my challenge and set 23!

We had so many great swims that it’s hard to cover them all, but here's some highlights.

Alan Atwell dropped over 26 seconds in the 100 back.

Philip Brochu just missed the 1,000 free Zone cut for a first time swim.

Isaac Brown dropped 19 seconds in the 100 Breast.

Savanah Helton dropped almost 13 seconds in the 100 IM.

Hailee Hill dropped over 13 seconds in the 200 free.

Teagan Lawrence dropped over 7 seconds in the 50 fly.

Madison Rhodus dropped 21 seconds in the 200 IM.

Caroline Robinson dropped 18 seconds in the 100 free.

Kirsten Waits dropped almost 39 seconds in the 200 IM.

Will Waits dropped 12 seconds in the 100 IM.

Savina Zimmerman dropped over 15 seconds in the 200 Back.

Team Records were set by Kirsten Eads, Leah Zimmerman, Kirsten Waits, Savina Zimmerman, Emma Atwell, Kanyon Hill, Jackson Tipton, Alan Atwell and Philip Brochu!

Also, last but not at all least, congrates to Philip Brochu for winning the high point award in the age 15-18 group!

I also would like to thank the parents for helping out at the meet and getting the hotel arranged for us.

It was great. Thank you.

Skeptics can come to the Easter Eggstravaganza in Richmond’s Irvine-McDowell Park on Saturday to see for themselves. However, the bunny still doesn’t fly in bad weather. But on Monday, temperatures in the 60s with partly cloudy skies were predicted for Saturday.
