PAINT LICK — It’s a beautiful, cool Monday morning starting off this very first day of July. It feels more like early September.

The gardens are growing, the farmers are all out mowing their fields and the Garrard County Road Dept. is on the move cleaning up our highways.

The Friends of Paint Lick had the pleasure of talking with an amazing trio from Florida last Wednesday. They were here for a visit to find out what we do at Friends. I do hope they will return and have more time for a long lunch. Rob and Barbara Romeig, we thank you.

The gathering of Backyard Ministries and all those who came to the Paint Lick Church of God … well it was an incredible Saturday evening. I could not have wanted to be anywhere else.

There were at least 50 children there to learn about Jesus and to have gobs and gobs of fun splashing around in the inflatable.

Many thanks to Hannah Walls for teaching the kids how to behave and still have fun and to Pastor Patrick Roberts and his beautiful wife, Ashley, for putting everything together. You all are a whiz with children

Ellen Hagan and I went to the Fifth Sunday Hymn Sing at Bethel Christian Church where Brother Dale Ballinger is pastor. The next Fifth Sunday Hymn Sing is in September at New Antioch Christian Church.

The Paint Lick Family Clinic will be closed through Sunday for the July 4 holiday, but “Doc” will return for his patients on Monday, July 8.

Happy belated, birthday to Ruth Lear Grow, July 2; to Ruth Golden, July 6; to Shawn Stratton, July 7; to Lola Harris, July 12; (both Ruth and Lola are from around Madison County) and last, but not least, a very happy birthday to my nephew, Mark Blundell, July 13.

I pray everyone will stay safe this July 4. Eat lots of healthy foods and vegetables and have a great time.

May God bless
