Baldwin having warm weather

Baldwin News

BALDWIN — Hello from Baldwin. How is everyone’s week going?

I hope everyone is having a good one.

We are having some warm weather for this time of year, aren’t we?

Doesn’t quite seem right for January, but we have to take it as it comes.

Happy birthday wishes go out next week to Jerel Middleton, Sunday; Billy Foster, Monday; Nathan Jones, Tuesday; my sister, Nelda Smith and Rob Hayden, Wednesday; Becky Riddell and Colby Bogie, Thursday; and Bill Ball, Saturday.

I hope all of you have very happy birthdays and many more happy ones to come.

Happy anniversary wishes go out next week to Larry and Kelley Harvey, Thursday; Billy and Linda Curtis and Stacey and Tammy Curtis, Saturday.

I hope all of you have very happy anniversaries and many more to come.

On Tuesday, Ellen Harvey, Myra Isbell, Garnett Isbell and I met Jimmy, Jean, Terry and Sherry Jolly of Carlisle, Ky., at Golden Corral in Winchester to eat lunch and celebrate Ellen’s birthday.

We had a good meal and a wonderful visit with good friends. I hope you had a wonderful birthday, Ellen.

Last Thursday, the Baldwin 4-H Club met in the fellowship hall of Bethel Christian Church.

After the meeting, the club had an electric class with Kendall Jones teaching it. The children made lamps.

Bennie Perkins and Wesley Jones helped with the class. Six members of the club made lamps.

After the class, everyone enjoyed refreshments.

I want to express my deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Jean Johns.

She certainly will be missed by all. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you today and in the days to come.

Well, I guess that’s all for now. If you hear any news, just give me a call at 623-4579 or e-mail at pljones61@netzero.com.

I often flash back to the days from the mid to late 1930s when I was a paper boy.
There were 10 or 12 of us who rolled out of bed at 5 a.m. every day, jumped on our bicycles and headed downtown to the Glyndon Hotel and picked up our papers for delivery.

The following were included in last year’s exams and were answered by 16-year-old high school students. The answers are genuine, and we must remember that these youngsters will grow up to vote, marry and become parents. It’s a scary thought.

Hello readers, it’s a stormy Monday evening as I write this, and I’ve been thanking the Lord all day for the good rain – over an inch in the gauge now, and it looks like more before morning.

  • Can you believe such cool weather in mid July?

    Hi!
Refreshing. That’s the word one TV weatherman described the upcoming days when temperatures will be in the 70s with virtually no humidity and lots of sunshine. Can you believe that in the middle of July? We can live with that, can’t we? We may even get close to setting a record for morning lows later this week. This has certainly been the year for strange weather!
