Reflecting on the glory of Easter Sunday

Kirksville News

KIRKSVILLE — Hello everyone. I hope everyone has taken time this week to reflect on the glorious event to be celebrated this Sunday – Easter Sunday – the resurrection of Jesus.

This week should be one for daily refection.

This past Sunday was Palm Sunday.

The children at Full Gospel Tabernacle celebrated by singing and carrying in palm leaves. The entry of the King. The final entry into Jerusalem.

Holy Monday, the cleansing of the temple. Jesus is preparing to become the sacrifice. Holy Tuesday, the plotting to kill Jesus. It did not work. Spy Wednesday, Judas agrees to betray Jesus. Maundy Thursday, the last supper, agony in  the garden, Jesus arrested. Good Friday the crucifixion of Jesus. Holy Saturday, also referred as Black Sabbath, which was Jesus resting in the tomb.

Easter Sunday, saving the best for last, the resurrection of Jesus. Then, from thereafter, daily celebration.

I know all the churches have a great message prepared for this day.

Bring your family to your favorite church.

If this is your first time, or you have not been there for a while, Sunday would be a great day to start. Easter Sunday is a day of new beginnings.

This year seems to be a repeat of last year, the Carpenter’s Easter egg hunt was cancelled last Sunday and rain is predicted again for this Sunday.

If it is cancelled again, they will not give up. One Sunday will have no rain and they  will have the hunt.

Kirksville Baptist Church will be having its Easter egg hunt on March 30. They always have a great event scheduled. I don’t think rain is in the forecast for Saturday. I hope you have the best of the weather for your hunt.

Full Gospel Tabernacle is planning movie night on Saturday. They will be showing “The Passion of Christ.” The movie will start at 7 p.m. Everyone is invited.

I knowGood Friday is also a time when most farmers plant their potatoes.

Dad, our potatoes have done poorly for the past few years. Maybe there is something to that idea of planting on Good Friday.

We usually plant our potatoes just whenever we can.
