Home Meals Board preparing for Special Thanksgiving Holiday

Special to the Register

RICHMOND — At the October Home Meals Delivery Board meeting letters were prepared for a mailing concerning the annual Thanksgiving Dinner Program. This is the only time the Board request financial help during the year from the community at large. You may send checks for Home Meals Delivery to Board Member, Keith Flowers, 250 Kennedy Lane, Richmond 40475.

On Thanksgiving, Home Meals Delivery, kicks into high gear delivering about 400 plus dinners countywide. For that to happen, dozens of extra volunteers will be needed. However, volunteers can be through by noon and back home for their own family Thanksgiving meal and in addition receive a Great Blessing by sharing with others. THe meals are prepared at the Baptist Campus Ministry on EKU Campus, University Drive. Volunteers bring their coolers and are given names/addresses of those to serve.

If you, or someone you know, needs a traditional Thanksgiving Dinner and wouldn't otherwise have one, please call the Madison County Fire Department at 624-4774 or 624-4775 or Berea Fire Department at 986-2898.

This program could not have continues since 1980 except for the volunteers that keep the daily services going and the expenses low. If you would like to volunteer call Board President Karl Park, 624-1291 or Program Manager, Dianna Ackerman, 661-5101.
