RICHMOND — “Too Many Drummers” kicks off the 2013-14 Second Sundays at Our Saviour concert season with an outdoor-grill event Sept. 8.

Grill and potluck begins at 12:30 p.m. with a 2 p.m. downbeat.

“Anyone who has attended our May outdoor concerts, has been wowed for years by band member Collin Berner’s fearless approach to percussion,” said promoter Patrick Tuck.

“Many thanks to our promotional sponsor, Monica Burden of Burdens Lifted LLC, a website development company: burdens-lifted.com,” Tuck said.

St. Thomas Lutheran Food Pantry will accept non-perishable food donations at the door for the concert.

A $5 suggested donation is also appreciated for the pantry and performers, Tuck added

“St. Thomas Lutheran budgets $400 a month to the pantry, but expenses consistently reach nearly $1,000,” according to volunteer Ordelle Hill.

The pantry distributes more than 40 bags of groceries every Wednesday between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. Donations are also accepted at St. Thomas Lutheran on Wednesdays and Thursdays after 11 a.m.

“There is always a line at the door and volunteers provide much more than food to those whom the pantry benefits,” said Barry Neese, St. Thomas pastor.

This season, Second Sundays at Our Saviour is partnering with Lexington artist Kay Collier-McLaughlin in a season poster print fundraiser, Tuck said

“The original piece will be installed in the church, and we are offering a limited run of high-quality signed and numbered prints,” he said.

“We are thankful to be a venue that provides performing and visual artists and nonprofits a place to share their stories in such creative ways,” said the Rev. Richard Burden, Our Saviour parish priest

The church will take print orders at the Sept. 8 and Oct. 13 concerts, online at oursaviourky.org or via email at arts@oursaviourky.org.

The Episcopal Church of Our Saviour is located at 2323 Lexington, Road, Richmond.
