Hi! Welcome spring!
It is spring, isn’t it?
What a year we have had weather wise -- and Easter is next weekend! We may need a winter coat to cover up our pretty Easter frock.
Speaking of Easter, some pre-Easter community events include:
• Wednesday service, March 27, 7 p.m., College Hill Methodist Church, and also Thursday, March 28, 7 p.m.;
• Flatwoods Christian Church, Good Friday service, Friday, March 29, 7 p.m., with Robert Stroup of Bybee Methodist speaking;
• Saturday, March 30, Flatwoods Christian Church, free community breakfast, 7 to 10 a.m., in the fellowship hall. Everyone is welcome. On Easter Sunday, the youth and choir will present an Easter program written by Walt Compton, beginning at 10:45 a.m.;
• Waco Church of the Nazarene will be hosting a Good Friday service for the Churches of the Nazarene of Richmond and Irvine. Nick Lemond will be the speaker. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Waco Community Easter Sunrise Service will be Sunday, March 31, at 7 a.m. at Water Plant Road (off Bend Road) at College Hill. College Hill United Methodist Church sponsors the event which is open to everyone. This year, Tim Jones will be the speaker.
Flatwoods Cemetery Association will have its annual spring cleanup this Saturday, March 23, weather permitting. If you would like to help, just show up around 9 a.m. or so. We’re sure your help will be appreciated.
Get-well wishes are extended to Juanita Smith, who was hospitalized recently. By the time you read this, we know she’ll be up and around and doing great.
Birthdays this week include: Kayla Dargavell, March 20; Tim Jones, March 22; Garrett Holloway, March 25; and Tina Fox, March 29.
Schoolmates and good friends Sue Dickerson, Linda Isaacs, Judy Mabes and yours truly met for lunch last Saturday at Sonny's Real Pit Bar-B-Q in Richmond. There was a lot to catch up on since we had not been together in quite a while. Food and catch-up gossip was followed by more food and gossip as the minutes ticked away. We plan to make this a monthly endeavor.
The Waco Fan Club met March 8 at Main Street Cafe in Berea to have lunch and also catch up on goings-on with the group. One particular person met by herself the next week (March 15) ate a free hot dog and caught up on absolutely nothing. (I need to check my calendar more often, don’t I?)
That’s about it for this week. Have a great one! (Aren’t you glad this season of basketball for UK fans is over!)
