Radio Maria US to carry ‘Among Friends’

Accessible here via internet

RICHMOND — “Among Friends,” a program by Father James Sichko of St. Mark Parish in Richmond, will become part of the regular schedule of Radio Maria US beginning 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8.

“Father Jim will share real lived experiences and connect them to the gospel to help listeners find Jesus and His lessons in all aspects of life,” an announcement from Radio Maria states.

Radio Maria streams live via the internet at www.radiomaria.us and can be accessed via smart phone.

It also broadcasts worldwide in more than 64 countries and 40 languages. Radio Maria US has the largest listenership of any radio broadcast in the world, according to the network’s announcement. In the United States, it broadcasts throughout Louisiana and has frequencies in Mississippi, Ohio, Texas, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and New York City.

“Among Friends” is also the title of a book which Sichko published last year about the series of big name entertainers he has brought to Richmond for fundraising appearances.

The next “Among Friends” event is a May 27 Dolly Parton concert at the EKU Center for the Arts. Sichko said Friday he expects the concert to be sold out by the end of January.

“It’s unbelievable,” he said. “Who would ever have thought 10 years ago that a St. Mark fundraiser would have people traveling from all over the world to Richmond, Ky.”

In addition to raising funds for the parish church and school, the concert series also boosts the local economy because those who travel here patronize hotels, restaurants, gas stations and other businesses, Sichko noted.

Among Radio Maria’s program topics and presenters are: “Miracle Hunter,” hosted by Michael O’Neill; “Jesus, the Evangelist,” hosted by Allan Wright; “An Introduction to Bioethics and Theology of the Body,” hosted by Fr. Joseph Howard; “Home Schooling Lifeline,” hosted by Catherine Moran and Terry Lynn Arnold.

Its programming also includes multiple daily devotions, daily Mass, “Chaplet of the Divine Mercy,” “Holy Rosary,” “Morning Prayer,” “Morning Office,” “Vatican News” and “Catechism.”

Radio Maria is a non-profit organization that operates solely with donations from listeners and the support of many volunteers who assist in its operation. It was founded to promote the “New Evangelization” started by Blessed John Paul II in 1987 and is dedicated to Mary, Queen of Peace and Star of Evangelization, the announcement states.
