First Baptist on Bypass serving free Christmas dinner

RICHMOND — No one in Richmond need go without a traditional Christmas dinner or good company to enjoy it with.

For the fourth year, “Christmas Dinner Served with Love” will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. at First Baptist Church on the Eastern Bypass, according to Susan Durham of the church who co-chairs the event with her husband Darin.

Those who cannot get to the church or cannot get out will still be served, she said.

Those in need of a ride or a delivered meal should call the church at 623-4028, Durham said. If no one answers, a recorded message can be left.

Last year, nearly 700 received the free meal, either at the church or delivered to their homes, but organizers are expecting more this year..

Home Meals Delivery and Rosedale Baptist Church served or delivered about 735 Thanksgiving meals this year.

First Baptist is teaming with Home Meals Delivery for the Christmas dinner and expect to serve a similar number if not more, Durham said.
