Waco Elementary events coming up

Hi!

It is so difficult to believe that October is nearly at an end. Of course, we’ve already had winter — that was last week!

Also last week, the Waco Volunteer Firefighters had a busy Wednesday. After putting on a fire safety program for the students at Waco Elementary, the firefighters responded to two calls, one at Greens Circle where they found a possible electrical short in a mobile home, then to a call at Estonia Estates which turned out to be a “controlled burn” creating lots of smoke.

If you’re not already booked, don’t forget the Pumpkin Run this Saturday at 9 a.m. Memorial Battlefield. Waco Elementary needs your help in having the most participants to win “big bucks!”

More goings on at Waco Elementary. Next week is the Fall Book Fair. Be sure to bring the family to the school on Tuesday around 6 p.m. for Family Night. There’s always a surprise “special guest” on hand, so, see you there!

Thursday at 6:30 p.m., Flatwoods Christian Church will present preview of the Financial Peace University program by Dave Ramsey. This is a free class offered to anyone in driving distance directed by Kentucky River Foothills. Also on Thursday at 7 p.m., anyone who plays instruments is invited to come to Flatwoods Church for a pickin’ and grinnin’ session.

Emily Madison Edwards had a lot going on at her house on Sunday. She turned three years old and, of course, had a family party to help her celebrate! Emily is the daughter of Bill and Monica Edwards, and is the sister of Will, of Shirdell Drive.

Happy birthday wishes go out to Calvin Marshall, Oct. 26, and to Caleb Henderson, Oct. 24.

Chandler Brandenburg, mom, dad and sister Jessica spent last weekend on a pirate ship. Well, sort of. For one of his birthday gifts, Chandler received a night’s stay in the pirate ship-themed room at Wildwood Inn in Florence, Ky. The family had a great time and barely left the room there was so much to do and explore!

The Brandenburgs were not the only visitors up Florence way. The flu is making its rounds among family members up north — Mamaw Betty Anglin, sister Judy and (her husband) Dave Taylor were all feeling the effects. Hope you’re feeling better this week!

Deepest sympathies are extended to the family of Ann Richardson who passed away last week. To Don and the rest of the family, may it help you to know you are in the thoughts and prayers of your many friends and neighbors at this time.
