Recycling center now in Paint Lick

Katie Rollins
Register Columnist

Hello readers, the new recycling center for this end of the county and everyone interested is finally here. The big yellow and black box stands by the side of the firehouse here in Paint Lick and since it's already on The Old Railroad, I will continue to use it even more than before. Many thanks to Chris Thompson of Solid Waste and anyone who might have contributed to the cleanup of our great earth. I hope everyone (especially the people of Paint Lick) will support the effort. I know it takes a bit longer to rinse out a milk jug, a tin can or stack some papers for recycling in a certain spot, but if you'll think about it, just one small act from an individual really can make a difference.

I'd like to comment on how well Kirksville Days took hold on Sept. 26. The town came together in a community effort that was of no surprise to us all here in Paint Lick. All of those from Kirksville are invited, for sure, to Paint Lick Annual VillageFest and The Sportsman's Club Fish Fry this Saturday. Come and join us for an all-day event and bring a lawn chair or two to sit in the sunshine ( I hope) and listen to the music. Volunteers from Friends of Paint Lick will be on hand as early as 8:30 a.m. to assist with set-up and parking.

A note of interest: The Friends of Paint Lick is usually open on Fridays, but we will be closed this Friday in preparation for VillageFest on Saturday.

The McCready Writers of Madison County will be presenting a program called, "Slices of Life" in poetry and prose at the Berea Arts Council's Second Friday Reading on Friday at 7:30 p.m. There is no admission fee, but a donation of $5 will be accepted. Everyone is welcome.

I want to say a big 'happy birthday' to my sister Linda Moberly of Richmond on Thursday, Oct 15.

May God bless.
