Free to set up at VillageFest

Hello readers. I feel that some weeks are just a bore for those of you who read my news ... mainly because of my talk with the beauty of each day and all the weather-related stuff. But people, let me tell you, Monday was just a great day with some breezy winds and it is what I would call pneumonia weather, but still a wonderful day to enjoy.

I have a couple of items right off the top. We all at The Friends of Paint Lick want to wish Bertha McQuerry a very happy birthday on Monday, Oct. 5. Bertha is the most precious volunteer at Friends and always willing to help every opening day. She will be 87 years young and gets around better than I do.

It also is a happy birthday for my sisters-in-law, Francine Alexander on Monday and Madrew Alexander on Wednesday. I have some great women in my family and these are just two of my brothers’ better halves. Have a wonderful day, you two. Also to my Doug’s two brothers, Matt Lear of Lancaster, a happy birthday on Saturday and to Dale Rollins of Richmond on Sunday, Oct. 11.

I have a request from Patsy Jung of Gillespie Pike. She has found a small, female, “Red Merl” Australian Shepherd dog. It is a bit over a year old and has had one litter of pups. Patsy firmly believes this dog is lost and cannot find its way home. If you have any information about this animal or would like to have a young and very friendly dog, call Patsy at 925-2270. I know she will appreciate your time in helping her to find this dog a good home.

Paint Lick’s annual VillageFest is coming up very shortly. It’s amazing how quickly time passes with the ‘Fest’ over 20 years in existence. It’s an exciting time of year for us at the Friends building when right at the last minute, everything seems to come together just right and as Ramey Taylor once put it, “It’ll all come out in the wash, anyway.” R

Ramey, Rena and Hannah Taylor have been a blessing to us at Friends for several years with their singing and all their help in pulling the VillageFest together and I pray they will continue to be our friends. We don’t get to see them as much since their move from Paint Lick, so it’ll be great to have them on Oct. 10.

It will be a big day as usual for this small town with everyone pitching in to help at the last minute. So make plans to come early and set up your table for the day. There will not be a fee for booths this year. You can read more about that day in next week’s paper.
