Customer Appreciation Day at the Farmers Market on Saturday

Paula Jones
Register Columnist

Hello from Baldwin,

How is everyone’s week going? I hope that everyone is having a great one. Somebody turned up the thermostat. Now, this week is really feeling like July weather, hot and humid.

Did you have a good 4th of July? I did. I spent the 4th with family and friends. We had a cookout at my sister and brother-in-laws house Myra and Garnett Isbell. We all enjoyed a wonderful meal. Those who were there were Wesley, Debbie, Kendall and Kara Jones, Tiffany Webb, Nelda and Henry Smith, Alonzo and Ellen Harvey and myself. Garnett had some fireworks that we all enjoyed. We all had a great time.

Happy birthday wishes go out next week to Cecilia Cobb, Sunday. Cecelia will be celebrating her 7th birthday. Happy birthday also to Don Bolton, Jessica Harvey, Justin Daniel Harvey and Larry Harvey, Wednesday; Don Long, Donna Rhodus and Elizabeth Robinson, Thursday; Ray Dargavell and Matthew Foster, Friday. I hope that you all have very happy birthdays and many more happy ones to come.

Happy anniversary wishes go out next week to Greg and Priscilla Winkler, Tuesday; and Allen and Jennifer Goins, Thursday. I hope that both of you couples have very happy anniversaries and many more happy ones to come.

The Madison County Farmers Market is having its Customer Appreciation Day this Saturday in the Lowe’s Parking Lot from 8 a.m. to noon. You will be able to get locally grown farm fresh produce, baked goods and well as jams and jellies. The market will have giveaways and you can register for door prizes that were donated by local businesses. The Baldwin 4-H Club will be there with a bake sale.

The Madison County Homemakers and the Madison County Cooperative Extension will be there doing demonstrations throughout the morning. The Madison County Homemakers will have the 3rd Edition cookbooks on Saturday. You may obtain one by making a minimum donation of $2 or more. All proceeds go to ovarian cancer research.

We certainly hope to see you at the market on Saturday.

There will be a food preservation boot camp on July 16 to learn how to preserve all your beautiful fruits and veggies safely. Morning class is from 9 to 11 a.m. and the evening class is from 6 to 8 p.m. The classes will be conducted at the Madison County Cooperative Extension Center, 230 Duncannon Lane, Richmond. The cost is $5 and please bring your Ball Blue Book with you. Call 623-4072 by July 13 to register.

Well I guess that is all for now. Let me know if you hear any news. Just give me a call at 623-4579 or e-mail at pljones61@netzero.com.
