Fish fry feeds more than 500

Donna Moberly
Register Columnist

Hello everyone.

The June 27 fish fry at the Full Gospel Tabernacle went over great. They estimated that over 500 people got fed. The Boy Scout Group 762, with assistant leader Allan Horn, helped put up the huge tent and set up the tables and chairs. Allan said that they parked over 100 cars. The Boy Scouts and Allan said that they were worn out, but they were glad to be able to help. Don’t forget if any boys are interested in joining in the Boy Scouts, stop by the church on Friday at 6 p.m. with your questions.

I noticed that there has recently been more clean up, from the tornado. Helen Estes’ home has been all removed now. I hear that there are plans to rebuild. I know that this has been an ordeal for her and her family. The old Coy house is gone and tree clean up in the yard also has begun. There were such large trees in that yard. It is no telling how old they were. Everything still seems so different.

Well, we have had a few days of dry weather. The farmers are working in warp speed. Hay is being rolled everywhere. The large fields look so nice after the ground is cut. I know we will be wanting more rain to come in, so that the newly cut grass will make a fall cutting. I guess we are not ever satisfied.

I had to get in the garden the other day with my rototiller. Rototillng is a big job in itself, but if your rototiller won’t start easy, you are working yourself even harder. If you hit a big rock in the garden, you can plan on the rototiller quitting. With couple of cranks you get it going again to finish up your job and that makes it a good piece of equipment. And trust me, it is a job when you have a lot of weeds and a big garden. Thanks a lot, Dad.

The Kirksville Baptist Church senior adults will be going to the Bread of Life Café in Liberty for lunch. They will leave the church at 10 a.m. If you plan to go, please tell Betty Tudor so reservations can be made.

The Full Gospel Tabernacle will be having a singing on July 26 at 6 p.m. with the group called Crossways. You can hear them on the radio. They have a song out called 70 x’s 7. Put this on your schedule for a great night of music.
