The Berea Arts Council is sponsoring its first garden tour, featuring the gardens of eight Bereans. The tour will take place on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. All the gardens are within walking distance — the loop is 1.8 miles long and walking and cycling are encouraged.
Gardens featured include an Oriental-themed back yard with a fish pond, grasses, perennials and edibles; gardens filled with flowers collected from friends and neighbors; a small cottage garden; bamboo in garden and landscape design; a garden with plants for paper and basket making; old fashioned gardens; and gardens with unusual plants. Featured gardeners include Xenia Culbertson, Katie Heckman, Doug and Nancy Hindman, Gin Petty, Barbara Prairie, David Saladino, Don Schultz and Mary Startzman.
For more information, contact the Berea Arts Council at 985-9317 or check out www.bereaartscouncil.org. Tickets may be purchased at the Berea Arts Council, located at 116 Main St. in Berea in advance and at all gardens the day of the tour. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 on the day of the tour. Tickets also may be purchased at the Berea Arts Council’s booth at Get Healthy Berea on June 6.
The tour is sponsored by Drs. Mary Oldfield, Ed Brents, Bruce Combest, Larry Daugherty, William Morgan, Daksha Parikh and Charles Parsons in memory of Andrea Wong, daughter of friend and colleague of Dr. Paul Wong.
