Third-grade classes from schools across the county converged on the Madison County Fairgrounds on Tuesday and Wednesday for 4-H Farm Field Days.
There, they learned first hand where the food they buy at the store originates.
As they visited a series of exhibits, the students saw how farm animals such as pigs, cows, horses, goats and poultry, are raised and cared for.
At each station, the children were allowed to interact briefly with the various farm animals. According to Miranda Shearer, 4-H Youth Development Agent, more than 650 students attended the field days.
